In my opinion, they are all harshly cleaned/polished, and probably not worth what you paid if you were to resell them. Not much lost though, and if you like them, that is all that matters. :-)

They do look polished but for a dollar a piece, not a bad buy.Keep them for 20 years and they will be good to go.

it looks that way probably because of the flash on the camera

Looks like they have been cleaned. The 1898 out of the flash looks cleaned. You can always try the Taco Bell napkin thing.

Even if they have been cleaned, (problem type coin), they were cheaper than the ones I have been getting!
the only thing is if you have holes to put them in, then you are okay. Not a bad price. I still have the holes....But not in that area. Dick

I agree...They look cleaned. They didn't look that bad when they were in the holders, but when I pulled them out... No biggie though, I only spent 20.00 for all those and a 65 mint set. It wasn't to bad of a "hit" if at all really. I'm sure if I were to take them to a flea market I could get at least 1.50-2.00 each for them (or not)

i think that the polished look could very well be from the flash on the camera... I've takend pictures of coins that come out looking "polished" or cleaned, but in real life they aren't nearly as shiny as the picture suggests... I think that may be the case here. Edit: oh, ok.. didn't realize the original poster came back and said they looked cleaned in person too. Oh well

A little sulphur and mineral oil will bring them down a notch. The cleaned look, that is.

I think that may be the case here. sometimes that is the case. On these coins, it is obvious by the color that they have been really cleaned...the look is quite unnatural.
