Here's a coin I've desired for many years. It's in an old ANACS holder and I think it's fairly graded. Anyone want to suggest what they gave it?

Im just trying to learn grading, especially Morgans so don't mind my opinion. I studied this coin on PCGS's online photograde for about 10 minutes. It looks to me like the front is a VF35 but the strong eagle reverse looks like an XF40. Anxious to see what you guys finalize and what the real grade is. I'm learning a lot from about grading on this forum.

35, I think. Did they consider the surfaces original?

They didn't find any problem. There is some dirt around the motto and mintmark that suggests it used to be a "dirtier" coin and was cleaned up a bit. I don't see significant directional hairlines from any abrasive cleaning and the marks that do exist are exaggerated in the photos (this seems to be a consistent defect in my pictures). The most significant mark is the shallow vertical dent below the eye. There is substantial luster remaining, especially around the reverse legend. It appears to have a hint of prooflike surface, which I hear is very common for the 1889-CC.
