1 real, Lima Mint, Assayer "Negron" Value? maybe $20-$30 if you found someone who needed that date. It's a common variety/style cob. Struck off center but nice bold date. Should weigh 3.38gr Nice coin

So, is it 1731?

yes, 1731 is clear - they did not put the 1 - so the date is 731. That was the norml convention.
I would still like to know the weight to see if it is a 1 or a half Real.

It's a 1 real. The 1/2 real in 1731 has the monogram, not the pillars and waves image. Cool coin, where did you find it?

Thanks! I've had it for some time now. Can't remember who I purchased it from but it came with a sort of photo certificate of authenticity and description.

Thanks - the weight is good for a 1R and there may have been some small amount of "tinkering" with the edge. Clipping of all coins was very common.
I didn't check to see that the 1/2 are used a different design - interesting.
I always put the date, seller's name, location and original cost on EVERY coin I buy. The only exceptions are the under $1 items I get from junk boxes. If you do every one without fail when you get them it is easier than doing it as a project later.

Amen to that advice. I have many coins that I no longer remember where I got them or what I paid. When I was in my 20s and 30s it was easy to remember. Now I have enough trouble just remembering which SDB has what. And going back to label them is a nightmare.
