The latest additions to my George V world type set is this complete set of eight coins that make up the 1923 proofs.

Unfortunately a couple of them have had a light wipe, but with a mintage of only 1,402, I am not too concerned. If I manage to find better examples I may upgrade at a later stage.

Very nice proof set. Fantastic detail on the coins.

I always liked the ship on the 1/2 penny and penny coins.

Can you confirm that it is Dutch explorer Jan van Riebeeck's ship the Dromedaris on the reverse of the coins?

latman100: I really like the half penny and the penny. What does the women with the anchor signify?

That has always been my understanding.

As for what the woman with the anchor signifies, she represents hope. She is represented on the old coat of arms of South Africa as shown on the Florin and 2 1/2 shillings.
