Has anyone seen the TV ad for the silver proof set of the 2010 park quarters. I think that it was HSN that had the ad. Five silver proofs graded 70 for $279.00. What do you think? How many sets did you order? Or not.

I've seen some Cable Shopping Network Infomercials starring Mike Mezack selling State Quarter sets for around $120.00.

Ridiculously overpriced. Follow Adam's advice unless there happens to be a good deal.

I hate those TV shows my poor wife being nice and thinking she was buying me a nice Christmas present a couple years ago paid $ 600.00 for a complete Sacagawea set from one of the TV shows the coins were not even graded they were all scratched up *&(*&(*&&^^%$ I did not say anything but WOW thanks. Then after Christmas was over for awhile I told her I really liked that gift but never, never buy any coins from TV again. She said did I pay to much for them I said well way to much but it was the thought that was priceless and I will treasure them. So I hate how these people like 3/4 of the ebay people RIP people off that know nothing about coin collecting.

This is so true - some "deals" on there are redicoulously overpriced and not in the best condition. However, this deal is all PR-70? Who does the grading?

As I remember the TV ad, the company that does the grading is PCGS. The guys on TV make that known as many times as they can in the sales pitch.

Don't hate the sellers; hate the buyers. If you have more money than sense; shame on you. People buy stuff they don't know anything about all the time and it's their own fault. No one is forcing anyone to bid...we all have free will. Some are just not fit to live in reality. Oh well. They will learn the hard way I guess. Buyer beware is the slogan of commerce. If you can't deal ..stay offline :)

I love how they say "This is the lowest price anywhere" "You won't find them cheaper anywhere" Especially when on HSN they sell, for example, a BU 1904-O Morgan for $75.00. The State Quarter "Goldmine" get's sold around $100.00

I saw a thread about this set on another forum and they identified the coins as having been graded PF-70 by ANACS.

You are right Conder101, it is ANACS that does the grading.

I too like to listen to these 2 men speak about coins, I have noticed the main pitch man, Mike is actually some what well informed in Numismatics, or He does his reading just before the presentation, I believe they look at him as the "big gun" of the show, I also love the second person, who reminds me of Ed Mcmann from the Johnny Carson show, He agrees with Mike, the coin "know it all" no matter what.
You can tell by listening to him, he has no knowledge on or in Numismatics, but can read a cue card, actually entertaining, and amusing at times, I have bought a thing or two or should say I have been given a thing or two from family members that ordered from the show......
