This is from a lot on ebay. Since it's raw and I'm no expert, I figured I'd ask some experts. Is it real? What grade would you give it? Thanks,

The mintmark looks suspect to me, though I can't see it too clearly. The inside makes the D look a bit lopsided, where it should be symetrical and triangular. Here is the reverse of my 16-d. If it were genuine, it would grade G-6 cleaned imo. How much did it set you back?

Need better image of the reverse D section. I wouldn't buy it if its not authenticated by the big 3 TPG. May I ask how much you pay for it? The MM doesn't look like in the right position to me.

I decided not to bid after reading your responses. It was part of an almost complete set (missing 2 common dates) that sold for $860.
Thanks.

Looks suspect to me. Smart move that you avoided. Only but this coin graded by PCGS,NGC, or ANACS. Don't ever buy raw on ebay. Too many shady people on ebay.

Yes, I would avoid the bay for coins that are key dates

Looks like a cast fake to me. Porous, pimply surfaces, and oh yeah, the mm is definitely wrong.

The letters "in Good WeTrust" just don't look right, neither does do the mint mark. it's said that there are more fake 1916-d Mercury dimes than real ones. this is a date that I would recommend buying only a certified example.
