NickleHalfDime,

There is an auction here [eBayItem]140485262166[/eBayItem] currently at $250.

You may be able to buy all coins separately on ebay, including the wooden case for less...

Interesting, thanks.

I'm going to keep an eye open for deals on the coins individually for now. In the meantime I think I'll focus my time on other parts of collecting.

Nickle,

There is a buy-now here [eBayItem]110607795110[/eBayItem] that's cheaper than the last auction. Price might be coming down.

If you check the completed listing you will see that a few of them have actually sold. The lowest price I've seen is about $183. Here is a link to that item.

Edit: To be complete, the shipping was $18 which makes it just over $200 USD.

Well, I finally found one I felt was reasonable enough to afford. 199.95$ CAD. It's more than the Mint was charging but it's the cheapest I've found so far.

This is definitely my first major purchase as a coin collector and it will probably be my last for a while. Now I will try and focus on finding coins in change/rolls and make small dealer purchases of coins that are not of much interest to anyone but me :) Hopefully!

You see I'm still working toward my bachelors degree and University has a way of taking chunks out of my wallet. That's why a purchase of this magnitude is quite a big deal for me. Thankfully though, there are very fun and inexpensive ways for me to continue collecting coins without "breaking the bank"

Once again, thank you all for your help! :)

Now I think a new long term goal for me will be to find the original 1935 coins (have not decided yet on a grade I wish to find them in) and hopefully keep them close to the commemoratives I just purchased.

NickleHalfDime, since you're "still in school", let me take a moment to point out a few other things that will take a chunk out of your wallet;

- Wife / girlfriend / lover (problem is compounded if you have more than one)
- Kids (see above)
- The Canadian Government
- Sports cars
- Jeeps (Just Empty Every Pocket)

There are probably a few more things that can be added to the list but these are the ones I've had experience with

By the way, congratulations on your purchase, it's a great set!

Hahaha, so true my friend. Though Ièd wager the Quebec government is hurting me a lot more than the federal government at the moment. :-P

The set arrived yesterday. I'm quite thrilled with it. Thanks!
