I found this coin this evening while roll searching. Look at the left side of the 8th column(2nd one to the right of Lincoln) It appears the column is doubled if not tripled. Thoughts?

Have you checked other examples from the same year? They are all like that. It is just a part of the design to give the appearance of a column behind behind to make it appear 3D. Check other examples and see what I taking about. The extra columns appear on the single squeeze dies.

Notice column 5,it has it as well. It makes it look balanced and as Coop said it's a 3D effect.

I understand what you both are saying. It is that this one just looks more pronounced than others I have seen.
