Nice discovery. Are you sure it's a Type 2? The FIVE CENTS looks like Type One to me.

Nice find, Dave! I do the "Happy Dance" whenever I find one of those! I think it satisfies the dateless nickel gods and helps me find more!

Do you think that a TPG will grade it? Have they graded these like this before? I would like to know if they will, because I have nic a dated alot of them lately and would like to get some of them graded if its possible. Today I found a 1913d ty2,1914d,and a 1917d. I have found 2 of the 13's like this now, and am finding alot of other great mm ones.

They would most likely give it a details grade for corrosion, unless they have a specific code for acid dated nickels. I am not sure that it would ever be worth the price unless you had a 16/16 or a 17/18 variety. I suppose a 3 legger might be worth it too, but those almost always have the original date.

200468118909 - Punch that number into the ebay search box and it will take you to an ANACS graded 1913-S T2 that I sold a few weeks ago. So, YES, ANACS and probably some other TPGs will slab them but it's probably NOT worth it. As you can see (if you look my item up on ebay) I only received a high bid of $56.00, and I offered free shipping, so I did NOT get rich off of this. Fortunately, this was not the only coin I submitted to ANACS...I sent a bunch of them in and therefore saved on freight and insurance etc so it sort of mitigated my cost to have it graded. In hindsight, however, I would have been better off fully restoring the whole nickel and selling it raw. I almost certainly would have gotten a similar bid and would have saved the ANACS costs.
