Just cracked open a new box, and in my first roll I found this:
1939-Jefferson-Double-Die
1939-Jefferson-Double-Die
1939-Jefferson-Double-Die
1939-Jefferson-Double-Die

I'm pretty sure this is it! Do you agree? I think it's easiest to pick up on the "ELLO" and in the C of "CENTS".

Unfortunately...he's spent some time in the ground. I plan to take it down to my local shop in the next couple of days to see what he can do to conserve/restore it's condition.

(Apart from the environmental damage) I don't think it quite makes the VF20 from the RedBook which is shown at $75. But it certainly has to be worth something!

I can't believe after all the 1939's I've looked at I finally find one of these and it's been in the ground.

Very nice find!

I've found well over 200 1939's in my nickel roll quest, but not one of those yet. Still waiting for my day.....

Agreed .... Great find ..... that is indeed IMHO the 1939 DDR ..

I have found 96 total 1939 and none of those yet ....

Show us photos of the entire obverse and reverse so we can take stabs at grading ..... by the reverse alone this grades IMHO F-12.

I'd say your grade is pretty much on nickelsearcher...don't think I have enough detail left to make VF.

Nice find. Like the other posters, I've found lots of 39s in the wild but never a DDR. Congrats.
