Correct. The 2001-2003 have wider devices on the obverse. It always makes me look to see the date a second time.

Just looked to me like slight separation on the right side of the 03, and the bottom right of the "T" has that angled look like I see at coppercoins so much. I guess I'm just not getting it.

A lot of the 2006 DDO's the mark at the upper left corner of LIBERTY or lower left is usually very minor. But they usually affect more than one device or area. I try to compare coins with the same year/mint to see what is common and what is unusual. On the 2009 DDO's there are two different ones on the obverse. Having the images together can show what is normal and what is a doubled die. Here are a few examples:
