Looks PMD to me. Maybe acid dipped or beaten with a piece of leather and a hammer?

dryer coins, from what I have seen, usually have damage that leads to a smaller diameter and wider rim.. this penny doesn't seem to have that

No telling exactly what happened to it, but it is definitely post-mint damage.

A number of causes could have created this, but the most common is that the coin sat between two objects and was beat to death either on purpose or just because it sat wherever it was for a long time.

If it's a Dryer Coin and it was in for a long time wouldn't the edge of the coin be a lot more worn and the diameter be a lot more narrow? Just wondering. Thanks,
John1

Dryer coins, loose in a dryer, get banged up against the drum, affecting the perimeter. In pocket, theyre cushioned. I'll do the experiment and post the results. I'm ready to defer to the acid opinion; however, the splitting of the obverse from the rim from 3 - 6 o'clock look like a like heat effect to me. Just an opinion.
