Even if there all common date's in fair condition the got to be worth 450.00?Yes or No?

In my local coin store common circulated Morgan dollars would cost me $18.00 to 19.00. So your purchase would be right at what you would expect to pay, just hope there are none that are really beat up or worn smooth. They could be worth less .. IMO When I make offers like that .. I call a local coin shop and ask what they are buying at, then I offer that price or even a little less .. I would think dealer buy price would be around $16 to $17. Of course I am sure you will be hoping there could be some that are better than common Morgans.

The silver alone is worth 354.43. AS long as they are not cleaned or wrecked I would guess you did alright.

Even if they are common dates in fair condition, I would think they would still be worth it. 90% silver and numismatic value. Although I personally would want to see their condition first, and try to low-ball him. Is he into coins at all?

Depends on the condition/dates. You will probably be ok. Let us know how it turns out.

I wouldn't pay retail prices for coins out of some guy's sock drawer unless I knew they were decent. I would have offered melt sight unseen and hoped I didn't end up with a bunch of beat up 1921's. Say ~350 or so - if he knows what he has he can counter offer you - otherwise you're at least offering the guy more than a pawn shop or coin dealer will.

I just sold 12 common date Morgan/Peace dollars here on the forum in an auction. They were in decent shape but their color indicated they had been cleaned in the past. Based on that I started the auction at $14/each, which was slightly less than melt. There wasn't any bidding frenzy.....9 sold for the opening bid & the other 3 sold for slightly more than that. At $18 each for a lot that size of common date coins I'd expect BU coins.

I dont know much about dates for morgans but....
I think it was smart to walk away. There's a good chance he knows what he has and was trying to make a quick buck. He could have easily gone down to a coin store, bought them for melt and tried to pawn off on you.
Old people can be sneaky like that.

I dont know if there are any key dates there, but if they're all common, he was offered a fair price of almost $16 each I think. You say they were all heavily circulated. Anybody can get AU-BU Morgan's for $20-$22 all day long. I dunno, I think it was smart to walk away, I think he thinks he has something he does not.
