I am curious how many on here, put together State Quarter sets or are in the process of doing so. I know there are those here that do not like State Quarters .. I am more interested in those that do. Did you collect them from circulation, rolls or mint and proof sets? What sort of grades do you think you have in your sets? Did you have any problems finding any certain State or mint(P&D)? I have two sets completed. The first set(P&D dansco) I completed from rolls I broke open, and rolls a local coin shop let me sort through. Second set, I bought a P,D,S and silver S Dansco that someone else started. Finished that about the same way as the first but did have to buy and break a few proof sets. Now I am working on two more P & D sets, because I have so many nice ones from the rolls I broke, and from mint sets I broke for my other series dansco's. I wish I was good at grading, from looking at the guides there are for different State Quarters that have prices over $100.00 for grades MS-67, and many that are over $50.00. I am sure that would be a hard grade to get, but some of the rolls I broke open have some pretty nice coins. So tell me what you have ..

Just finished up my State Quarter set of both D and P mint marks. Most were accumulated through change, some from mint rolls at coin shows. Got my last two coins from a member of this site. Thanks Captiankurt!Grades in my collection range from MS-60 to MS-69. The hardest state coins to get were the Philadelphia mint mark being here in Minnesota the state leans towards Denver mint marks. I am also collecting a set of silver proofs with 7 to go on that set.

You are welcome Rasta! I too love the quarters! I have been trying to complete my circulated set but alas, here in Delaware I am still missing some 2007 and all 2008 Denver minted coins. I have a complete Business Strike set in MS-65, All the satins, proofs, and silver proofs too. I got all my Business Strikes from a dealer and all my others from mint sets.

Once I get more sorted, I think I would have some to trade for the ones I am missing for my last two sets. Some of the rolls I open are very nice .. I know MD and SC stand out right now. I am just sorting by state at this point, not mint mark. Once I get the loose ones sorted and merged with the ones I have in 2X2's then I will know which ones I am missing. Also if I have some that others need I can let go for face value plus shipping. (better looking ones I have from rolls)
I also have to decide if I want to break open more rolls. I still have rolls of MI,AK,HI(P&D) mint wrapped rolls and TN,NJ,MA and GA (bank rolls) that I have not open ....not sure what to do with them.

I am working on putting together a P+D set from circulation. I haven't been searching rolls - just collecting what I find. I don't know much about grading, but it would vary quite a bit from coin to coin. And some point I will sit down and make a list of which ones I should try and upgrade.
I guess I am also doing the same thing with the park quarters, except I don't have any yet....

Thanks Duke & Rasta! My circulated sets are just for the fun of searching my pocket change and the occasional roll search sessions. I find it fun to search for the missing coins and upgrade others as I go. It also is helping me learn to and practice my grading skills. I appreciate the offer.

When the State Quarters began to come out, I chose to spend them. Mintage quantity was so high and everyone was collecting them, I guessed they would never be worth much for at least 50+ years and so many would be collected that a set of AU grade would always be available. But then --- goofing around I looked at the coin from Iowa and saw the tree being planted beside the school house and thought that's kind of neat. They are really a nice change and I became interested enough to put together two sets of P & D. Glad to see them as they are a plesant change. Actually they are the only quarters that I collect. (other than a few I've picked up for the silver)

I have put together a Dansco album of Business Strike 'P' & 'D' mustly from change and a few roll searches. I lack only the Northern Mariana Islands 'P' having it complete. I haven't seen any of the new Parks quarters yet.

When my son began collecting in the fall, our family put together a set--not P & D, just one per design. It took only a few weeks to do it from circulation; most of the coins are AU or uncirculated. About 2 1/2 weeks ago, my son picked up a display map for a set as part of an auction lot at his coin club: https://goccf.com/t/65803. So he's been working on finding the other mintmark for each of the designs. It doesn't take long; I believe he's filled 29 holes so far.
