tklimson - fill me in on your methodology that you use for 'hunting'.

you can go to bank and request rolls of half dollars and such..sort through them...if you find any that have silver, win for you..if not, take it all back and return it for the deflated green stuff. =)

Well I never ask"do you have silver half dollars". I just ask for half dollars. You say silver and they get inquisitve, and if they find out the real value a clerk will keep for themselves.

Thank you very much for your tips on the 'hunt'. I will have to give this a try and see what pops up!

I went to the bank today and asked if they had any half dollars. I got $25 worth from all the tellers - nothing in rolls. I found a 1968D in the batch. Melt down value for this one coin would be $2.70. I am amazed that I found this in my first try. Just like a kid in a candy store. Not a huge find to any degree, just fun and satisfing. I will be cashing in the remainder for greenbacks.

Don't return the clads, since you might get them right back in the future. Spend Kennedys or leave them for tips. COngratulations on your great find.
