Here is my latest Morgan S$1 acquisition. I love these circulated Morgans with this type of toning/patina. Sorry for the glare. Dancing fruit for whoever gets this grade/designation completely correct. Thanks Edited by JimR 06/30/2010 1:52 pm

I've never seen a morgan like THAT before... Under all that "toning" and "patina", I swear I see abe staring me down.

It was probably graded early on a Monday morning, in which case I could see the denomination and metal content going undetected by the graders.
I normally don't do grading threads, but since this is for dancing fruit, I'll 'guess' XF-45
Edited--- as I just noticed that there is a possible designation.
In that case let me change my guess for the fruit (from XF-45) to '1878 $1 Genuine'

Is this Morgan a certain VAM variety that I'm not aware of?

You know, maybe it really is a very rare experimental trial piece Morgan dollar error that was struck on a copper planchet with Lincoln Cent dies. The folks in charge of minting Morgan dollars must have been really bored between 1904 and 1921 anyways...

Jim, all kidding aside, we see you 1917 cent here, even though you may see the Morgan. The pic files need to be renamed and uploaded again.

If you want to send a note to the Staff/Moderators, you can use the "Send Note to Staff" in the bottom right of your post as well.

I agree with Adam_E....Definitely a Morgan on my computer screen.
Possibly the coin viewed depends on which internet browser you are using or maybe your brand of monitor?
I vote for letting the thread remain and allowing the guessing to continue. (I want that dancing fruit).
