On the way home, stopped by the local Von's and was explaining to the clerk how when I was a kid, I used to wait for mom to check out and while waiting, would look at all the quarters and dimes in the coin dispenser for silver. Well, memories came right back last night when I did the same thing and saw 2 silver quarters. The clerk asked me if I wanted them, she would get them out for me! I said "sure!" I explained to her what they were worth, but she just wanted 50C for them 64-D 64 swcoin.ecrater.com

Awesome Thad! Sounds like a great son ;-)
Adam, they are at most supermarkets when you pay with cash. They. Hold cents, nickels, dimes, quarters. The coins usually fall into a little "cup".

LOL I guess they are supposed to be dummy proof... cashiers don't have to count out coins.. the register does it, when you get a big one, like 0.99 back, sounds like you hit the jackpot when they drop

Nowadays it's the electronic sound of a printer....printing out a ticket. I do miss the sound of falling Ikes hitting an empty tray.

All of the Speedway gas stations/convenience stores around here have those change dispensers. I always check them; haven't seen silver yet!

I used to work for a guy who had a vending business... part of my job was collecting the money, counting the bills and rolling all of the change with a change machine. I didn;t collect then. I wonder how many silver quarters and dimes went off to the bank. Ugh.

Nazarene, stop...it serves no useful purpose to beat yourself up like that. ;) 25 years ago, I worked for Coca-Cola. Back then, the drivers brought in bags of change every day. Heck, I used to cash my paycheck at the plant, and grab a roll of quarters each week to do my laundry. hindsight is 20/20
