I bouht this Gold 6000 Baht Thailand coin some time ago and now there appear to be rust marks forming. Does it mean that it is not gold or is there a safe way to remove them.

You should not see any form of "rust" or tarnish on the coin if it is real gold.

Thanks. That's what I thought but the coin came from the Thai treasury and Krause says it is .900 gold.

That problem is known for some German 100 euro coins. These ones are .999 gold.
I have read about it some years ago. It had created a big polemic in Germany.
As far as I remember it is some silver dust that remained on the die. This microscopic silver oxidates with the air and the result is what you can see.
It is certainly not a quality but is is no proof the coin isn't gold.

I have found an old topic in a German forum.
Yes it is silver and it is a problem that appeared on coins minted in Germany.
Do you know where this one has been minted?

Unfortunately, I did not find any cure to that.
The problem appeared mainly on coins minted between 2002 and 2004. It seems the mint has replaced the coins at that time.

Thanks again. My coin is from 1996 so this may not be the problem.
