I stopped by the coin shop today to get some more flips for all the proofs I found in circ... and figured I'd give his 25c buffalo bin a shot. Just were looking for ones with readable dates, and mm. But I picked up a 1917-D with a readable date I would guess along with 5 other buffalos for $1 total (he gave me a break for buying the flips). I think I'll be going back anyting I should look for buffalo guys?

Readable dates at $.25ea? I would get all I could afford at that price. In my area $.85 is the best you can do for readable Buffs and $.50 for no dates. Nice F-12 and better start around $2.00 and go up from there.

Are they restored readable? $.25 would be a great deal for original readable date buffs.

Coinman1014 and I went to our shop the other day to go through his bin of Buffaloes (5 for $1, all readable). We bought 20; now he has filled 33 of the 64 holes in his new folder.

Stand at the flea market I frequent gets $.75 for the readable and $.50 for the readable. I buy a couple every time I go and have my folder about 20% filled.

I'm so jealous when I hear these stories. I got nothing. I am happy for you though.

Define "readable". All 4 digits showing...? Just enough of the last two digits showing to be able to conclusively determine the date...? Something in-between..? 25 cents for that second definition is good. Anything above 40 cents is too much. I could sell you nickels that fit that second definition (and no acid dates!) all day long at 40 cents. (I'm not TRYING to sell them to you, just telling you that the market is somewhere between .25 and .40. I bought LOADS of them at .30 and .35...)

Full date is when all 4 digits show and readable just means you can figure out the date ie. the 19 is normally missing.

Napoleon: Right on. That is exactly MY definition of what it means. It's surprising how many people I've encountered who think it means, or ought to mean, all 4 digits. Again...not trying to be a salesman here, but if anybody wants 40 different readable dates (no acid!) at .40 each, send me a PM. Americanmafia: Getting a readable 17-D for .25 was a total coup! Congrats!
