I am familiar with SGS coin grading being questionable, what is the consensus of opinion on PCGS and ICG Coin Grading Services? Thanx MJ

PCGS & ICG are both reptable grading services. My opinion,PCGS being the better of the two.

Most collectors will pay a premium for PCGS over ICG slabbed coins.

Not really. ICG is getting better at slabbing ancients and in fact probably better for such.

There are 4 grading services: PCGS, NGC, ANACS, and ICG. The others are companies which enclose your coins in plastic and put a grade on that plastic, a grade which is correct about as often and for the same reason as a broken clock is correct: twice a day.

As of right now, PCGS-slabbed coins bring more at market than the others in almost every category, except the real rarities whose quality outshines the slab.

Everyone forgets this one, because mostly Canadians go here- ICCS. They ARE a TPGS, but often forgotten as it is used by mostly Canadians.

As I understand it, ICCS is very, very good and consistent also. They don't use hard slabs. They use soft flips instead. I've seen a couple of coins graded by ICCS and was very happy with them.

I'd never heard of ICGS before. Thanks for the heads up so I know not to skim over their coins.

I buy from ICG since most people ignore them because not much collectors pay much attention to other grading services and just wish to buy PCG OR ANAC OR NGC because they advertise more then ICG does in magazines and if you want proof buy some "Coin" magazines
