Just asking... I have several myself. A couple years ago, the only silver dime I've ever found quite literally rolled up to me in a school hallway. It turned out to be a 1943 Merc in F-12 condition! A couple years before that, when I was like, 10, I was looking through my mom's pocket change and found a dime that had an "S" on it instead of a "P" or a "D". Years later, I discovered that I had found my only Proof coin: a 1972-S in PR-20. Then, of course, there were the three Indian Head cents and three steel cents I found in the same $13.50 batch, but those finds seem to be normal enough.. So if anyone else has any, feel free to post them!

I found a capped bust half on the dresser. Not overly weird in itself, but given the fact that I have no idea how it got there or where it came from...

Many years ago, when I was a teenager, a friend and I took a very cheap Radio Shack metal detector to a local baseball diamond. We searched the infield, as the loose dirt was pretty easy to dig up (and we were both just plain lazy!) The day produced two memories: first, we dug up a complete Hibachi about a foot directly below third base, and second (the numismatic memory) when we were done and standing on the pitcher's mound, sitting on the pitching rubber was a Mercury dime! It was a common date from the 40's (can't remember the exact date) but it looked as if somebody placed it there. Strange!

I once found a Standing Liberty quarter behind my Grandma's stove when we replaced it. That coin belongs to a special group that I will never sell due to personal memories.

I found $125 in a store parking lot. A hundred, a twenty, & a five. No, I did not ask who lost $125 because every single one of them would of said "YES". If you saw the neighborhood you would understand.

a girl who graduated a year before me came into the convenience store I work at (I hated this girl) she decided to play a 5 dollar lotto ticket and paid for it.....lost. I laughed inside. she bought another, lost. She bought about 75 dollars worth and lost on EVERY ONE! So she digs into another pocket and unrolls a 1963 red seal 5 dollar bill (I think that is the year) she pays me with it very very timidly and kinda sad. I take it as she leaves and buy it out of my drawer immediately. she comes back and wins 5 bucks. She asks for the old red dollar back after I give her a regular bill. Luckily a lady walked out right before she came back in to claim her money. I told her I must have givin it to her. I looked though my drawers for her though so the lady would be gone from the parking lot. :) She used to make fun of kids on my bus so this was my revenge. :) Once she left I took out the bill and just stared at it for a while. It was my first colored bill. Since then I have only recived one more bill like that, a 1935A silver certificate 1 dollar bill. Kinda mean but she spent it right?

i was about 13 or so playing down at the local beach. the beach is named after the old train depot, Depot Beach. anyway, this beach is notorious for having thick grey clay. my sisters and I would cover ourselves in it and throw it at each other. well, the more we dug, the deeper we got. it was about shin to knee high water, pretty close to the shoreline. well, as we dug up the clay, we started finding these circular objects. after cleaning some of the, we noticed faces. a few looked like Indians, and a few looked like women. turns out, people back in the day who used to wait for this train, tossed change into the lake, much like into a fountain. we cam out there that day with a few Indians, 1901, 1898, and a liberty nickle, 1902 I think. anyway, I always dream of going back there one day and finishing what I started...

Yeah, but abject poverty and a gambling addiction are dishes best served warm.
It's hardly a black and white situation.

I have sort of the reverse version of this topic.
My brother and I collected stamps many years ago and he went to a local coin/stamp store and bought a couple of old stamps. At the cash register he pulls out a $10 bill to pay for it. He hands it to the cashier and they both stop and stare at it... he had just handed the guy a $10 Gold Certificate. My brother asks for it back and the guy refuses to give it to him, so my brother walks away.
When he told me about this I wanted to kick him square in his behind. I was like, yell, scream, call the cops... but my brother the pacifist just walked away :(
