Is there such a thing? Looking for a pre-1780's copper coin with a large Union Jack - could be a coin or a token, a penny or a halfpenny...

Sorry but you will be out of luck on GB coins. The closest you can get to flags are the shields on the reverses of most of the silver coins. Prior to the 1797 copper penny they were all silver and the copper halfpennies only have Britannia on the reverses (like the farthings).
As for tokens there is nothing that springs to mind either.

Wow! That's tough. Best bet is to find some sort of counterstamped piece. Trolley tokens perhaps. When you get one you can put it here

The copper halfpennies and farthings of the 1600s and 1700s do indeed show Britannia seated; and there's a Union Jack painted on her shield. It's not "large", and its not in the form of a flag, but it's there. Example of George II halfpenny on Tony Clayton's site.

If you want it in flag form, you can see it on some Conder tokens flying from sailing ships; these are even smaller, and date from the 1790s.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Yeah, I'm familiar with those coppers, Sap - I have some from the 1800's - didn't realize the design went back that far!

I was looking at a coin I was sure was overstruck when I posted this (and for quite some time). In the end, I've decided that's probably not the case, probably was just scratching. : ( Especially after reading the opinions here, it must not be a likely piece!

Thank you again for your assistance! =)

Actually the first "British" coins with Britania were issued under the Roman Emperor Hadrian, so the device is much older than just the 1600's
