I hear about people that search bags of new coins from the mint and get the various errors that seem to be in them. How does an individual go about getting bags of current year coins as opposed to rolled coins?

For sure! I got tons of new coins at my local bank! All they have is boxed 2010 coins. I can't roll hunt for a while!

The only bags that come from the Mint now (other than the small bags the Mint Sells on their website) are the big Ballistic Bags. You just MIGHT be able to arrange to get them from the Fed but you'll need plenty of cash and some equipment to handle them. I would also expect there to be a shipping and handling fee. A Ballistic Bag weighs about a ton so you will need a good forklift. A bag of cents is about 400,000 coins, 320,000 nickels, 800,000 dimes or 320,000 quarters. Now the mint does have a program where you can buy a bag of the new quarters from them directly. It has $50,000 would of quarters, there is about a $2,000 processing fee, and you have to come pick them up at the Mint yourself and haul it away.

Unfortunately they are correct. Just checked. The average collector can't qualify for the lager programs. The only coins they have in bags, we can afford, are the Kennedy halves and Indian Commem Dollars. The rolls of 2010 pennies are $8.95 and the Presidential dollars are 30 something. Wait till your bank gets them unless you want the mint roll.
