as stated many times I just dont trust myself or ebay sellers when it comes to raw coins but I needed a 1878 Reverse of 1879 so I figured what the heck, it was 36 bucks including shipping. Anyhow just wondering what you guys think this one grades, I think this one is in the MS range but I could be wrong (as I have been so many other times)

I think it certainly is a MS coin, the reverse looking better than the obverse, but overall I would give it a MS61 maybe 62. I think it would go higher except for the numerous contact marks and the area on the nose tip on the obverse.

It might be a ms-63 hard to see with out coin in hand I cant see the cheek well enough to see if I is baggy or not I do see some marks in the field low left near stars and E .. I also agree the reverse is better than the obv. which often seems to be the case. by the way your pics are real good just need a little more light. Believe me, not that I could do any better..

Going MS-63 on this one. Has alot of nice luster and not hardly any big marks. The fields are really nice and clear. Is it just the pic or ? It looks like some of the stars on the obverse before E of E Pluribus have some of their points missing. Is this a VAM? I know absolutely nothing about VAM's and not much more than that about Morgans. I have a few raw ones in airtites but that is about the extent of my Morgan collection.

Hi Bryan - The usual caveat: I haven't looked at the other responses yet. I don't see any signs of circulation despite the weak strike on the reverse. The main detractors are the scuffs on the obverse, none very serious nor overwhelming. Looks like it has good luster and the obverse strike looks stronger than the reverse. I'd go MS-63 or MS-64; it might even go MS-65 on a good TPG day, but I think the marks in the obverse field will keep it down a bit. Nice 78 SAF!

No change of opinion. Range MS-63 to -65 with MS-63/64 as most likely.

Bryan, Are you going to send this one in to be graded?

I think I'd be pretty happy with that coin for $36 shipped. *Maybe* MS64, depending on how they're seeing marks in the field that day. It's a shame, because the devices are pretty.

I agree, it's a low MS. Maybe 62 or 63, but don't be upset if it comes back 58. Nice Morgan

Havent made up my mind yet, I was going to add it with some others to make the 5 coin minimum so I could send them economy but not sure I will do that for awhile. If I could send regular coins along with GSA coins I would send thisen in but GSA's has to be on a submission by itself and since I only have 3 GSA's I dont guess they will be going anytime soon because I aint payin 30 dollars a coin to get them graded. Speaking of which: anyone have 2 GSA's you wanna send to get graded? we can put your two with my 3 and it will cost 16 bucks a coin instead of 30 a coin to send them by itself, of course this will be sent to NGC because they leave them in the NGC holder

Well, I was way off on this one. My original feeling was an AU55 since I thought that I saw slight wear on the left wingtip and on the breast feathers (though I know the strike on these feathers is not that great for this coin).
