Is that your thumb on that beautiful coin? Man put on a cotton glove. Wouldn't give you a plugged nickle for it now!

Beautiful Morgan, but I agree, it is probably ruined now. As for grade, it is rather hard to tell since we can only see about 60 percent of the coin because of those big paws.

Hey guys, his thumb/finger is on the edge not the coin, theres just a 'spillover' effect from the camera and its not ruined....
Probably MS-63 though, looks to have significant amounts of chatter.

If it has a lot of chatter in hand, then probably MS-62

I would grade the coin MS 61. Too much chatter for MS 62.

I got it for about AU prices so I think I got a good deal, and PL in hand...

With all the chatter I would say MS-62.

Well, you asked for opinions on grade Gene, and you got some pretty honest replies.
I don't know anything about grading, but the detail on this particular coin is absolutely breathtaking in 'my' opinion. I love it, even if it is a Morgan.

Given that PL fields accentuate chatter and bag marks, I'll give it a 64.

Exceptional strike no doubt, but I would offer that it won't pass 61 or 62 with the various bag marks on the obverse, if those are bagmarks. Those make it appear that it's been beaten around in a bag for quite a while and detract from the overall value and quality of the coin. Still an excellent buy given the popularity of some of the "S" mint marks recently.

Hmm...I was originally thinking 55/60 before reading what everyone else thought.
From the angle the luster looks smudged and there are a considerable amount of marks including regular but dulled bag marks and a ton of small dents that seem to cover the face that are more characteristic of light circulation.
Am I just wrong here or is there logic to my logic?
And then after reading the price you paid, I am leaning towards 55 again.

I'm not convinced this is mint state. I see a trace of grayish discoloration in the fields that suggests slight friction. I'd call it AU58 based on these images.
It would be a good idea to give this coin an acetone soak to remove any oils that might have transferred from skin. That could prevent fingerprints from showing up later.
