I think this makes VG8 at best. Am I on the money?

I'd call VG10. You are getting some nice Half Cents wheezy!

I purchased this one on ebay for a pretty good price and it was described as in Good condition.
The only upgrade I am focusing on is a Draped Bust Large Cent as my 1802 has environmental damage that just rubs me the wrong way.

I would offer that it has VG details for sure, maybe closing in on Fine. Appears to be some corrosion effects that would prevent grading at PCGS or NGC. My $.02. Still a very nice coin - I love the Half Cents. What can you buy for 1/2 cent? Better Question, what could you buy for a 1/2 cent in 1829. Wish coins could talk.
