A couple of weeks ago I purchased a bunch of 2x2's in different sizes. I received some morgans this past week and they just won't fit in them comfortably. I barely had enough room to staple the sides and even after doing so, I was worried that it was going to bust out of the plastic. Any suggestions as a better alternative? I would rather not store them in tubes if possible. I also have the same problem with Peace dollars. I'm not sure what these 2x2's are supposed to hold.

Try stapling at a 45 degree angle at the 4 corners and flatten the staple once done. The flips that worked the best came in package of 30 (I forget the name) cost around $4 and found them at a hobby store.

The coin shop flips which come in bulk for some reason did not work well for the big sized $1 coins (ike's, morgans etc). I ended up returning them back to him.

BTW, I use air tites. It' sort of expensive but I am trying to id them for VAM's and it works best for me without having to worry about them tearing out of the flip.

Peace

Those Morgans deserve air-tites or good 2x2 plastic holders like intercept-shield. Then store them in a intercept-shield storage box. Put that box into a good zip-lock bag with a small desiccant package and you will never have problems. Or, just use air-tite holders but with a zip-lock bag. You did not say how valuable these Morgans where or whether you intended to sell them soon! Cardboard or vinyl 2x2's should only be used for a very short time. This is only my opinion!

Honestly. airtites can be had for less than a dollar each... I would say for morgans its worth it to protect them.

Thanks for that very helpful information. Most of the morgans I speak of, arrive in less than quality storage. I have many in the $20-$30 range but I also have a few that cost much more. For whatever reason, I feel less worried about leaving morgans in stacks on the table for days than I would a stack of nice Lincolns. I thought they were less affected by environmental issues.
