Hello,

It's me again...lol
In an old album I found some foriegn bank notes. I don't have a scanner so I will descibe them the best I can. I have identified the countries and they are as follows:

1)Greece/serial number(in red, upper right hand corner)710733/value 500(on both front and back)

2)Greece/serial number(in red upper right hand corner) 374311/value 1000(both front and back)

3)Italy/serial numbers(2 sets of serial numbers)0473 & 080741/value 100(above and below the value is vale and lire, across the value is cento)

4)Moracco/serial number(there are 3 sets here)26133, 000726133, H.1/value 50

5)Moracco/serial number(3 sets)98962, 023598962, L.10/value 100

They are from around W.W.II I believe. Any info would be appreciated.

Maybe a moderator could move this to the proper forum where DC can get some replies?

Ooops...I see that we are already in the proper forum (just shows how sharp I am). The MPC is rather out of place then.

This is sorta... the right place.... I'll try to ID them

Your Greek notes would be pre-war or post-war. By the 40s, hyperinflation would have pushed to issue notes >10000

Your Italian 100 lire seems to be this? There is some value to this, but it depends on the condition of your note.

Actually if you could, locate any dates that are on the notes. That would make identifying much easier.

Hi wd140,
That's exactly the one that I have. I did notice on the very edge of the note it has this info:

Legge 24 Dicembre 1951. N.1405

I had to take a magnifying glass to see all of that...lol The condition of this particular one I would have to say is fine to very fine(stamp terms, sorry)The only thing is a slight yellowing on the top edge where the tape was that was holding it in the album.

I see, can you post the rest of the dates? They're not as hard as the Italian note, and would usually be located somewhere in the middle of the note. You can also go to Ron Wise's site to identify your notes.

wd1040,

The dates for the two from Greece are both 1950 and they are both in fine to very fine condition, though they also have the slight yellowing condition where the tape was on the top edge.

The two from Moracco are 2-12-48 and 10-11-48. They I would say, are in good condition. No rips or tears, but they must have been in circulation as they both have a crinkled look.
