Tried doing a search on topic, but no luck ... anyone know if DANSCO is putting out a new album for the Lincoln Preservation of the Union Cent (Shield Cent)?

Are those members here that use Dansco products putting their 2010 Cents in the open slots in the Licoln Memorial Album?

Just curious ... Thanks

I'm putting them in the empty holes of the memorial album until they come out with one.

They will most likely come out with one in a few years, but right now it would only have two labeled holes in it 10-P and 10-D. Most of the manufacturers learned long ago the dangers of making albums with future dates already printed in them. I have seen plenty of older albums with non-existent dates and mintmarks listed in them. What would happen if the in a year or so the government came its senses (if it has any) and discontinues the cent? You have a whole Dansco album with four or six coins in it and a whole lot of blank holes (with or without labels.)

I was just wondering if the sheild cent was meant only for 2010 like the 2009 designs and only for that year? Is the Mint going to use that design for many years to come?

The shield cent design is permanent (unless of course Congress passes a new law authorizing a new design.) There are no plans to change it in the near future.

I'm not sure if I understand your question exactly.

I have the Lincoln Memorial Dansco, and mine stops in 2016, with the correct holes/dates for all eight different 2009's and each of the four Proofs. It, of course, then continues with the 2010 Shields with holes for P&D as well as Proof. So, I'm good to go except for when my album ends in 2016, then I'll buy the extra pages.
Rest in Peace

I ended my Memorial cent w/ proof Dansco with the 20 different 2009 cents, then got a blank Cents Dansco and started it with the 20 different 2009 cents, then the so far 2 2010 Shield cents. I couldn't decide if the 2009 cents ended the Memorial series or started the Shield series, so I did both. But the answer is, using a blank cents album.

Is a dansco better to put coins in rather than a whitman? I have a 1959-1998 folder for cents, its whitman will this protect my coins for the long run? whats the difference between to two

I put a 2010 P&D shield Cent in my Lincoln Dansco to serve as a transition I guess. I will not put any more Shield Cents into my current Dansco. I will still get the shield cents and hold off until they make a new Dansco to put them in (and I am sure they will)

A whitman FOLDER does not protect the coin well; one side of the coin is up against paper and possible glue which can damage the coin over time. A Danso or Whitman ALBUM will protect the coin better (if used properly) and will allow you to see both sides of each coin.

Eaglefoot -- I have slots through 2016 in my "Memorial" Dansco as well ... and that's where I'm currently going to put my Shields ... I was just wondering if Dansco was going to put out a new album (since these aren't "Lincoln Memorial Cents") ...

My guess is that Dansco will treat the LSC, just as it has the LWC & LMC
over the years. They will give you the same 2 choices you have had since the 60s.

1: Keep a separate album for each. LWC, LMC, LSC.
OR
2: Have one "Lincoln Album" that covers all 3.

I agree with others that it is too early to designate it as a whole new animal.
We might one day... When the 8100 can't possibly added to anymore, they might
decide not to make an 8100 Vol II. If that happens, you're stuck getting new albums.

You make a good point, and give me an excellent idea.

Dansco should make one single page that has only 20 holes, for the 2009 set of cents.

Then you can buy that one page and put it wherever you want. Fact it that they didn't
cover all 20 coins in even the most complete 8100. This would 'fix' that, and it
would allow you to end your LMC or begin your LSC book in style.
Rest in Peace

Everyone let them know how you feel.
You KNOW that right now is when they are trying to decide on exactly how they approach
this issue and are making plans. No better way to please the collector than to hear from
the collector when you are making plans.

I suggested that they use this break in the series to totally refine and upgrade their Lincoln books.
Things like putting all 20 2009 cents on a single page to their own...
Removing useless holes, IE the 22 plain error hole that most folks with can't or don't want to fill.
Putting the refined 7100 and 8100 into their largest binder.
And of course, getting prepared to make an 8100 Vol 2 when the time comes.

Well, I would use it if they came out with a new one, but my current album will still make the transition within regardless.
I say this because my Lincoln Dansco with Proofs houses the first 1909 "Wheat" Cent, continues all the way through to the "Memorial" Cents with Proofs, and still continues with the 20 different 2009 Lincolns, and continuing through with the transition to the "Shields" and beyond. So, I will just buy the "extra" pages to continue on past 2016 when I need to.....them being Shields doesn't mean they don't belong with the Wheaties and Memorials which are also in the same Dansco Album.
But, as I said, I would still buy a product "starting" with the Shields or even the '09's.....but I don't "need" to.
