I want to sell my 1906 2 1/2 dollar gold coin. I've looked online and found greatly varied prices. I know it's due to the grade. I'm just having trouble trying to figure mine out. I just want some idea of what it's worth before trying to sell it to a dealer.

In the pictures I'm attaching the bottom of the coin looks a little darker and the front isn't as dull as it appears, but that's just my inability to take decent pictures of a coin.

I will really appreciate any help on this.

First of all

Liberty quarter eagles are valued as collectible coins and for their gold content. From the images you provided, the coin appears to be high AU (Almost Uncirculated) and since it's raw, that is where it's grade is likely to be established.

The 1906 is a common date so unless it's in Mint State condition, I would value it around $300. I purchased a common date, raw, VF condition Liberty quarter eagle last winter for $180. The price drops off quite a bit as more wear becomes evident and shoots up quickly in Mint State grades.

The $300 figure for your coin is retail guess/estimate. Wholesale is closer to $250. Good luck with your sale.

Looks to be AU55 or right in that ballpark.

I agree this coin should grade AU55 or so. It appears to be free of problems such as scratches, abrasive cleaning, or rim damage. You should find willing buyers in the $200-250 ballpark. Of course, you could just keep it!

200 would be the price you could get in my area.
Rest in Peace

Yeah, $200 sounds about right for a dealer, a collector may pay closer to $250.

Thank you guys for your help. I would like to keep it, not so much because I'm an avid coin collector, but because all the coins I have my grandpa has given me. I still have other coins though, plus another one like this, but from 1873.

This place is awesome. I'll definitely come back.
