The catalog has it as Iraq #96. Dates: 2003; 2004; 2006. VG, VF at face value and UNC at $27.50.

At the current exchange rate 1,000,000 Dinars = $855.

Or approximately 1,182 D's to the $1. If you are planning a MONEX action, use caution. I brought back 2.6 mil 6 years ago and the Dinar as only improved slightly. The Ruler, so to speak, is the PM Mr. Malawi (sp) who still has not put together a working coalition government. The currency is on shaky ground right now but there's still all that oil to be considered. Petro-Dinars do have a certain romance but only if you can afford to loose.

Most dealers are getting $1000 per million Dinars. remember the exchange rate, that's about a $115 to $150 premium. Also keep in mind that the currency is volatile; can move quickly.

Another issue is counterfeit. Be sure you source is a reputable dealer. Better yet, if you're around DC, check them out at the World Bank. My son picked up some there the other day.

On the "flip" side of the paper, they are really neat bills and; if crisp, clean, uncs, look great in a collection. I have one of each from the Hussein 1 Dn all the way up to the new 25,000 Dn. I'd still like to find some of the old Swiss Dinars.

While I was over there, I thought about buying some up since I heard from a few friends that did it. After reading this article I woke up and decided it was probably a bad idea.

Jury is still out on that one. After the Gulf war, the Kuwaiti Dinar went back to 1 to 3.8 to the dollar. Oil is oil gang.
