Was their an 1864 IH made with a week L. An employee gave me a really nice one at least XF and it looks like their may be an L. But it looks week. So question is; Is the L boldly stamped on most of these or not. Maybe I'm just hoping and seeing things. WOLF

The 1864 IHC with the L has a pointed bust on the Indian. The one without the L has a rounded bust. If you post photos I can tell you right away. The L can be very difficult to see.

I found this one a few weeks back. The "L" is weak but at the right angle right light I can see it.

I hope the pic helps with the pointed bust.

I also bought one with the L and it took a while to figure out where it was, but once you see it it is easy to find.. You just have to hold it correctly and look a t the right spot.

Generally, if the coin is Fine or above, and free from corrosion, you should be able to see the L with the naked eye and definitely with a loupe.

That coin really irritates me. I've seen some with the L and although the coin was in AU I still needed an electron Microscope to see that thing. I'd like to go back in time and punch the guy that didn't know how to make an L stand out.

Wouldn't that be cool to see everything in real time from the past. I wish someone could invent a time machine, I'd be the 1st in line, well maybe 2nd, Just Carl has an axe to grind.

The very left point of the bust just above the 1 in the date will be either pointed or rounded.
