I have no idea what this thing is worth. It is a bit worn, but I'm still curious of it's value.

Wow, had no idea it would hold that kind of monetary value. Interesting.. I don't collect paper money really so I might think of cashing this one in.

This is not a gold certificate. It is a federal reserve note. Make sure you keep that in mind when checking the value.

Quote: Wow, had no idea it would hold that kind of monetary value. Realistically, it doesn't.....Not even close. Let me tell you un-sugar coated truth about these small size green seal Federal Reserve Notes: First of all, condition is everything. Even if yours was in uncirculated condition, it would still be unrealistic to think that you might get $90 for it. If your note was a circulated STAR note, look for a price like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/1928-20-FRN-Low...aultDomain_0Next, these notes were printed in varying quantities for each of the Federal Reserve Banks. #7 (Chicago) was printed in numbers higher than for all other banks with the exception of #2 (New York). It is by no means rare. http://cgi.ebay.com/5-1928-20-00-FE...aultDomain_0Just so you might avoid disappointment at the coin shop, or save yourself some money on listing fees, here are some examples of what a note like yours is actually worth: http://cgi.ebay.com/1928-20-FRN-fr-...aultDomain_0http://cgi.ebay.com/1928-20-DOLLAR-...aultDomain_0In my opinion, based on all pictures involved, your note does not really measure up to these two, so you might adjust your value to somewhere in the $30-$35 range. You never know though, suckers are around every corner, and you might sell it for $100, but it isn't very likely. All of that may have sounded rather harsh, sorry, but I will always throw sugar and tact overboard to make room for truth.

zeewool - Thank you for the information. I had guessed that AF's guess was a highball and am not surprised to find out it's worth less. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Now I at least know realistically what I can get for it. Paper money ain't my thing. Although I would have liked to get a nice Morgan or two for it. heheh

That is entirely possible. Some nice Morgans can be found in that price range, (if you are in the right place at the right time). Just keep your eyes open, and be vigilant.

zee is always a downer. IMO, yes 90 is highball, but 30 is lowball. ebay shouldn't be used exclusively as a guide, because many people are still skeptical about ebay. private auctions are the way to go. and yes, it is NOT a gold certificate, though back in the day it was "redeemable in gold" as the clause states on the upper left.
