I have to agree here Zee, today if you find a counterfit..Its taboo.
Yet back in the day they were/are still "LISTED" as such and accepted as collecibile... and as many moves on the chess board that is happening now they don't seem to be in the light....in fact you can still look for them and they are accepted?

I do understand that they are highly collectible today, but I wonder if they were identified as counterfeits 30 years ago, would they still hold the same value that they enjoy today?

So, my assumption is that their perceived value is strictly nostalgic, and limited to a few folks who pass this perception of specialty on to others who are impressionable.

that's an interesting thought..Passed down? yet accepted today..and still these coins are found today.., I do think they were known back 30 years ago, but many had money tied up in them, so they have continued to slip thru the system,...people now collect counterfiets. So there is still a market,, what better than threw TPG"S not that its correct...its always about the money and those who have the money who influence the market and bought into the system...
I have to ask why......with all the grading in the past.....by our major grading systems......NOW they make a MS65 a MS 63 or 64.....AFTER ALL..they are only protecting the 20 billion they say insure..IF MORE COME INTO the market place........THESE VALUES would drop in a heart beat.....If you want sauce Zee try "Franks hot sauce". delightful...
As for the money......I need not say more, and revert to the old man I am....
