A coin is listed as an 1878 7TF VAM 166 on ebay. The coin is not a VAM 166, but a VAM 164 (see top of 'I' in LIBERTY). I sent the seller a note to this effect, but still didn't want anyone here to be bidding on this as a VAM 166 (these sell for $5K in high AU).
It is very nice to see someone who cares about his fellow vammers in the way that you do Dave. Although I don't buy coins, I do appreciate your efforts to protect us from making mistakes. Thanks Buddy.
Here's the problem: The book excerpt illustrated in the auction shows a spiked "P" in its' description of VAM-166. That book is going to sell that coin, and it's wrong.
