Hey Everyone:

I just purchased what I though was supposed to be a 1956-D MS67 Roosevelt dime but ended up being a 1958-D Roosevelt dime inside that slab.

The slab looks to have no evidence of being opened.

What do you all think?

Is there any value to it? Is the slab a fake? I've seen them before online for sale but I don't know if it's worth trying to sell or should I get refunded.

I paid $15.50 on ebay.

Thanks for any insight.

It is just a clerical error on the slab label(not generated by the graders) and a simple clerical error should not add any value. The seller should have noted it in the auction and if it was not mentioned, then you should be able to get a refund under "item not as described". If that is the seller's photos, they are blurred enough that you would never have been able to determine the appropriate date.

Thanks. They are not his photos but his are similar where only the label is visible. So most likely this isn't even worth the $15 I paid huh?

If it's truly an MS67 then $15 is still a good price. Can't tell from the images but it certainly doesn't look to have 67 luster.

Post some better pics if you can. NGC will want to be made aware of the problem.

Yup I agree... not the gleam of MS67. The coin might technically grade MS67, but you can find one that has a nice look with little trouble. We send hundreds of coins to NGC, and we get them back labeled wrong sometimes. If you send it to them, they will re-holder it for free... but for $15, I would keep it as an "error" slab.... ha ha
