Do I need to start a new post to upload a photo - didn't notice the upload requirements in time and tons of blanks and special stuff in the file name.

That's a good looking quarter. There is a small dent on Liberty's neck and there is slight rub on the high points. Luster is present but somewhat dulled in the fields. I think there is enough head detail for full-head status. AU-58FH.

Wow that is a sweetie isn't it? I don't study full heads or collect them, mostly because they are almost all out of my range in high grades, but that's a dandy type 1.

Thanks for the input, It is very much appreciated! Re: 1917 T-1.I struggle grading this coin, sometimes it looks Ch Unc., In hand this coin is much nicer than the photo indicates! Even rotating the coin under 5X mag, I just don't see abrasions or other types of hits that can be associated with wear... I feel its weak strike has washed out the details normally found in the shield and lack of fullness in her are knee. Somehow I just find it odd not to see the same level of wear on the rest of the coin. Honestly I believe it is a 61 or 62 and then I look at the pic and Ch AU. Isn't this truly - the greatest hobby? ;-)

I think about 80% of the T1 1917s are FH, so I don't know how much a premium this would add in this situation.

AU-55 FH.
Nice coin, and I agree with Nod. It is easier to find a FH Type 1 SLQ in higher grades than it is to find one that does not have a FH.

Thanks, never too old to learn, what are some of the guidelines you use to determine the FH pedigree? Is J.H. Cline's book worth buying? Can anyone recommend other good reference books or site's dedicated to the St. Lib 25c?

Winterhwawk, I'm going to agree with the AU folks and say AU58. It looks like the slightest bit of wear on the center of the shield. That doesn't take away from the fact that this is one nice coin. I was totally unaware that you can get a graded FH on something less than an MS coin. Even figured that it would have to be Choice Unc (63 or above) for them to even consider an FH designation. I have an MS65 FH in my type collection, and have never seen an FH in any kind of AU designation. Can someone please post a pic of a graded FH in less than MS concidtion?
