Thanks for all the replies! Earlier in the week I took the coin to a dealer buddy of mine and got his opinion with coin in hand. He's grading it as F-15 to VF-20, with the remarks that the TPG's tend to be a little liberal on this type of coin. He also thinks that the marks are either planchet error, or where the coin weighed to much and was filed down (can't remember the term he used after my six-pack =)) Anyhow it left yesterday on it's way to PCGS. I only have $700 invested in it so I'll be happy as long as it comes back in a "Genuine" slab. I'll keep you guys posted when it comes back. Cross your fingers for me!

$700 is nothing for this, can I ask why you didn't pay more?

Well it's back! PCGS took their time grading it for all the extra money I paid, but I'm really happy the way it turned out!
Shadow, to answer your question of why I paid so little. I was very concerned with what at the time I thought was damage on the obverse. Figured I would be able to turn the coin for a profit at maybe $1000 in it's condition.
Anyhow... heres some pics

Should be an easy sell if you'll let it go for $4000 or $5000. Many people would love this coin in their type set.

Heritage has sold about seven 1796 dollars graded VF-25 by PCGS in the last 5 years. The prices realized ranged from $4600 to $6037. The $6037 price was for the same B-5 BB-65 variety that you have. Offhand I'd say you stand to receive a pretty fair return on your $700 investment.

Nicely done!

YOU MIGHT hold onto it for a bit. If you consign it to Heritage, you might get your maximum profit BUT I've noticed these early dollars are really suffering right now - they seem to be going on the whole for about half price everywhere else. This one might be worth selling in a month or two...? But, if you've gotta sell it, I'll give you $1796 right now! :D
