I was thrilled a while back to find my first one ..... but in the previous 2 weeks or so they are showing up common here on the USA east coast .......
I had been throwing them into a tube ..... just went through the 40 coin tube and kept only 3 coins ..... gem MS66+ ..... all the rest were baggy and ugly.
Sooooo .... back into circulation for these ....
Still no 2010-D here in my area.
Anybody else seeing this as well?
David

I had 11 of them out of 2 boxes the last couple weeks. Did the same, kept enough for myself and the kids, and threw the rest back. Interesting that I had to travel to Las Vegas to retrieve my first 2010-D, but the P's are showing up here in Iowa...which is strange as we're Denver territory.

I've found dozens of them (both P & D) in the last few weeks and 2 solid boxes of 2010D and 1 solid box of 2010P.

I've seen a couple of 2010-P nickels (in Michigan), but no 2010-D yet.

I found about 30 2010-P's in a box a couple weeks ago (in Connecticut). It will probably be a while before I see a 2010-D. :(

I haven't seen any 2010-P or D nickels here in Ohio yet. Hopefully they show up soon!

I have yet to find either 2010 P OR D in circulation in northern middle TN. Quote: all the rest were baggy David, what do you mean by baggy?

I'm just dying to get my hands on a solid box (or two or three or four) of these! The shield pennies are making me a decent buck, but these would be astounding.

Quote: David, what do you mean by baggy? Forgive the expression ...... 'baggy' means that while they may be mint-fresh MS state ..... the coins are covered in various degrees with surface marks and nicks as a result of handling at the mint and during distribution. Most of these coins left the coining chamber darn near perfect ..... but at the rate of modern US production coinage nobody was there to catch them with cotton gloves ...... so they bang into each other in the plies of 'super sacks' .... then get hauled with a forklift .... the get bagged .... then get rolled ..... then get distributed .... then get to me. Net result is most MS coins I am seeing are 'baggy' .... filled with hits and nicks from this series of handling that distract from their technical grade and visual appeal. Now is the time to cherry-pick the 2010 nickels ..... not all are 'baggy' ..... and as I said above I have found three now that are lovely ...MS66FS minimum and maybe even better .. and these will be the treasures sought for many years from now. Hope that helps David

David, what do you mean by baggy? Most likely that they have a large amount of chatter, marks, and/or hits.

I think I was one of the first here to coin the term "baggy" and I think I used it in the same sentence as "nicky". The term baggy to me means that it is uncirculated with a lot of bag marks or contact marks from preparing for shipment from the mint. I think anymore the mint just dumps new coins into big deep baskets. This is a good video I just found to show how mint coins drop several numbers in the Mint State condition before they even leave the mint. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYkl...yer_embedded

Thanks for the excellent answers explaining the term "baggy".
So will only current coins be considered baggy and non current coins be called circulated and not mint state?
