Roll hunting is a lot of fun, and doesn't cost you anything besides what you pull out. Start with pennies and pull out wheaties and if you can get a Cherry Pickers Guide, you can find some nice things with that also.

That's what I'm doing right now, no so much because of economy but more of being new to collecting. Have a RedBook and the internet though, not a cherry picker guide, to try to find some variations. Just got a triplet Hastings 10x magnifier in the mail today to help with it.

Nod,

I briefly skimmed through one at the store a couple days ago. I managed to miss those, my bad.

At a coin show last Sunday a dealer showed me a PCGS slab with a 1916D Mercury dime in it graded at AU-58. He said due to the economy being slow he had just lowered his price to $8,500.00 from the $9,000.00 he had been asking. What a deal. Fortunately didn't have that much in my wallet.
If the economy is so poor, why are all the prices at such coin shows the same as they have been?

I have increased my roll searching lately; lots of fun and occassionally, I find a nice coin. I have also been buying some cheap proof sets, cracking them open and filling some holes. I have also been picking up some fairly cheap coins (morgans, etc) at my local coin club.
