AU-50, perhaps 53 if there's enough luster left, hard to tell from those photos.

AU-50 to AU-53 is what popped into my head. Nice coin!

Thanks for the input. It looks 50 or 53 to me, but I've never been big into Barber coinage. Anyway, there is a small scratch on the obverse just behind the head and luster is minimal because of the toning. The toning is very natural and quite attractive IMHO. I thought the details looked 53 but the grade was 45. Seems a touch low.

This is a very beautiful coin.
In my opinion the obverse could grade AU-50. But I think it is the reverse that made the XF-45 grade.
To me (from reading the grading guides) AU can have a trace of wear on head tail and wing tips. This coin shows substantial amount of light wear on all of the eagles left wing, also shows wear on the right wing the arrow tips, shield and some of the stars. This is just what I see .. but still is a very nice coin, I would love to have it in my type set.

I agree with Goldrush. The obverse looked 55 and maybe 58 to me, but the pic was a little fuzzy. The reverse brought this coin down to XF-45. PCGS is always tough.
