Just won this one on flebay. It was advertised as ms66. If it is as nice in hand as it looks in the pics, it will be the best buy I have ever made. Opinions?

The apparent lack of luster from the photos make me wary, but hopefully in hand it has luster.

Nickelsearcher-it was hsturn (vintage coin co). Over 58000 sales, 99.9 rate. Got any information?

I've bought several coins from them and they were all good. Hope yours meets expectations... Is it slabbed? If not slabbed by one of the Big 4 a numerical value shouldn't be included in the description... Just sayin.. Paleoguy

Numerical grades can still be used for raw coins in the auction body but you can only list numerical grades in the title with TPG coins.

That coin looks to have a very nice strong strike, lots of detail. I would like to own one of those that nice any day.

here is one of this sellers photo's of a coin that didn't look anything like it in hand As I said one of the best photoshop people on ebay. hopefully it will turn out well for you, I would just advise anyone looking at this persons auctions to take his photo's with a grain of salt even though he has seemed to tone it down on how much he alters the images it still makes me weary when I know what they can do with the image to make a dog coin look like the one posted above. A good deal is always a good deal no matter who the seller is but if you paid MS-65 money for it going by the pictures or description the seller supplied (MS-66) I would post some actual pictures of the coin once it arrives to be sure its graded correctly if you aren't comfortable grading the series

Yipes ..... I offer an apology to jprine for not getting back to him after his 9/17/10 reply to my question. My Bad. That is what I expected ...... I assumed you would say either hsturn or Great Southern Coins ..... two well known photo-shop pros that sell raw coins that are ...... uhhhm ..... not what is expected in hand. I'll save my hsturn experience (a costly one that finally got resolved)for a PM if desired. The true question two-months later is 'are you happy with the coin?' Thats what matters. David

I was happy once I got the coin in hand. It is not a 66, but I really wasnt expecting it to be. I try not to buy expensive coins that are raw, but I bought this one for a really good price, so I am happy. Thanks for the input guys.

Glad you are happy with it. It does appear from his extra clean photo, to have a hammer strike which is not usually the case for Stone Mountains. If this guy is enhancing his photos, avoid this seller!
