Just got to work and spotted a nickel on the floor. I'm in the habit of picking up lots of change I see. Turns out to be a 42 S silver nickel. It's amazing what you find just by having open eyes and keeping a lookout. And nobody here would know the difference anyways and just think it's a regular old nickel laying around :)

As a kid, I used to make a small but regular income out of coin finds. There was a main railway station near where I lived, and the concourse was paved with asphalt. Opposite the ticket offices, (there were many ticket windows) was a large candy shop, and the customers would drop foil wrappers on the asphalt, and at first glance, small pieces of crushed foil and coins would look much the same.

Passengers in a rush occasionally dropped a coin, in those days it was silver, and I would just troll around the area and pick up three or four coins every time I visited the area. These coins paid for many child concession train fares, and occasionally, free chocolates or candy!
