There are certain "top of the line" collectors who would buy this and I think the 3 offers the coin has shows this. I'm not saying I'd buy it, but there are certain people who'd buy the coin due to the uniqueness of it and the fact that some people like how flawless these coins are. High grade Ike dollars have had and do have a market, partly due to the Registry game and since so many Ike dollars are baggy and downright ugly. There are some people who think coins like these are worth it, and not just because it will help them do better in the Registry game. Quote: is this for real? What's so surprising about the auction? Like I said, these coins do have a market. The seller also recently sold this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...t_707wt_1057

The 1972P Type 2 that got sold for $2025.00 was approx $225.00 under the value of the PCGS price guide.
The first coin he is selling right now is $1500.00 OVER the PCGS price guide- MS67 Type 2 # 7419 is listed at around $5,250.00. (Over-priced big time!)
Since he has make an offer, I agree with sgtbigred, some serious collector will probably come in with an offer he might accept well below his asking price of $6750.00.

it would take a registry collector trying to get their set a higher rank to purchase that coin. As the seller said it was in his #1 registry set and it will probably go into the next #1 registry set as well. Allot of those guys don't care what it costs as long as they can say theirs is #1. And if its the highest one ever graded by PCGS you know there will never be anyone else that will be able to claim to have the highest one graded in their set

According to PCGS cert verification, the current book value is only$5,250.00 so I would say he is a little high. But he is right, none graded higher and a population of only 23. So to a serious collector in need, I am sure they will make an offer he would accept.

Yes, but the PCGS guide is usually way overpriced, or for some series way undervalued, and given that the 1976 is a Pop 1/0 I think the premium over the PCGS price guide is justified. It is a Make an Offer auction though, so I'm sure it'll go at a considerable amount below $6750.

Maybe a little over the $5250.00 may justify a premium, but I still think its way overpriced at $1500.00 over PCGS Guide price. (IMHO)
Doesn't matter to me, as I'm only window shopping anyway! (LOL)

Checked it out on the POP/Price report on Coinfacts. The MS67, about 9 show a worth of $5200. Only ones sold at auctions were MS66s and they sold for $161. True, only 9 coins in a field should yield a good premium over the next lower grade, but $5,000 is a little much. Also look at that coin; If that's MS67 quality, I'm dropping my PCGS club membership.
