I want to buy my son a 1944 nickel. It was not a real nickel but one made by someone named Henning. I am not a coin collector but in the last year, my son has developed a real interest in it. He has mentioned this coin specifically. Any information would be helpful. The couple of coin sites I checked didn't have any listed. Thank you.

Finding one would probably be fairly difficult, here is a site with information on it.

Good luck finding one. About a year or so ago, I would search ebay with certain saved searches.
Since some are listed in errors as well as Jefferson nickels, you might do better searching all of ebay categories. Here are some sets of key words I tried. They yielded about 2 per month. The high bids were usually around $35 to $60.

missing mint mark
1944 no mint mark
Henning
1944 copy
1944 missing

I think you get the idea.
Anyways, there are a couple people here who have more than 1 Henning. Maybe you will stick around on CCF and contribute the necessary quality posts to be allowed to buy and sell on here and somebody will be able to help you out directly in the future. Welcome to CCF!
