Back when the State Quarters first started I was going to try to get one bank wrapped roll from my bank everytime a new quarter came out. I then became tired of trying to hunt down the newest roll once it was released. My point is do the bank wrapped rolls of the State Quarters carry a premium or should I just cash these back in at the bank for face value. They consist of the years 2000-2003. Most of my collection consists of older coins and I really don't have any interest in these. Thanks ahead of time for any advice.

I did the same thing.....I didn't get about 15 states or so.....and all of mine are Denver mint. I turned in A LOT of partial tubes and partial rolls of Uncirc. states too.
It does get burdensome to hold onto "a pile" of rolls, and one begins to wonder if it's really worth it to keep some of them or any at all. The "State Qtr. Frenzy" did this to a WHOLE BUNCH OF FOLKS ! So, don't feel like the Lone Ranger ! .....

Prices for the Silver Proof Sets and the Proof Sets, have come way down in some cases......like the 1999 Set.
There are low mintages to have in BU. There are some very modest semi-semi-semi-keys like the 2002 P or D Tennessee.

But, I would just say, that if you really want the money that these rolls would give you for face value..(2000-2003)...take em' back in without too much concern of a lost opportunity or potential.
If you aren't in a hurry.....you could try selling them here on the forum, for a very modest profit.....if you meet all of the rules accordingly to do so.
There are options for you......you just need to decide what "you" want to do really.

In any case....don't expect very much beyond face value for them. In 40 years, however, it's hard to say. There are a lot of them being "preserved" by collectors just like me and you......but there are also a lot of collectors who will, or already have, just turned them back in, or will eventually, which puts them back into circulation too, they'll get tired of storing them once they've realized they're just not worth much beyond face value.......so.....who knows how it'll work out in the "long-haul"......

I do not believe that they have any premium at this time, but you can search ebay or other venues to see if there is a market for them.

Keep them if you can afford to keep them around for however long it takes for them to appreciate in value.

If you do not enjoy them and would rather have more of the older coins that you do enjoy, then cash them in. It is more likely that the older coins will appreciate more than these rolls will.

What I'm doing, and it probably doesn't make much sense (but I've been doing it long enough now that I don't care), is putting all the quarters I find in change into a duffle bag. I'm not looking at them because I don't care about quarters. My wife calls it my little hoard. Then one of these days I plan on just selling the whole thing. Who knows if someone will buy it.

I would say that If I had BU coin rolls I probably would just throw the rolls into my bag. I do have a decent amount in there, but I feel like you're in a hard situation. Good luck with whatever you do!

Lukkyseven; what is the hope of doing this? Do you plan to get over face for the bags? Please excuse my ignorance and confusion but what will be the limit on what you will allow in the bag and sell? Because isn't this just like going to the bank and picking up CWRs and bank rolls?

I think it's more of an emergency stash for me. Just in case I need to turn them in. I didn't know that you could just get bank rolls of the quarters to be honest.

I just know that people were collecting them and I didn't care enough to roll them. Figured I'd put them in the bags and if I ever needed the money I could dump them. Then if in 20 years I didn't trade them I that I'd see if they had a premium.

No I'm putting the State Quarters in bags. I'll probably start putting the park quarters in bags also, but to date, I haven't found one yet.

Personally I wuld not pay a premium for such rolls because unless you break thm open you really have no idea what is actually inside the rolls. Is it actually a BU roll of one issue, or is it a mixed roll that happens to have an unc of the same issue on both ends? Or could it be ven a put together roll of circs and even non-state quarters with and unc on each end? Anyone with access to the rolling equipment can ceate any "bank wrapped" roll you want.
