ok,

so I embarking on dime roll searching in a whole new way...

not only will I edge search, but I want to become familiar with the varieties and DDO's of this series.

is there an online reference, much like the lincolncentresource, but for dimes?

can anyone tell me off the cuff, which DDO, varieties would be more valuable?
Rest in Peace

I would suggest getting the book Authoritative Guide to Roosevelt dimes by Kevin Flynn. The first part of the book is a date by date analysis. After that is a section on known doubled dies with nice pictures. Then after that are two more sections on over mintmarks and repunched mintmarks both with photos.

There aren't a lot of these.

The most valuable is probably the 1967 DDO with the PUP in In God We Trust. My favorite is the 1968 which shows up in the date. There's a '66 DDO as well as a '70. The most dramatic is a '70-D DDR. They changed the reverse several times and there might be some mules. These are usually created at the beginning of the year when the operator changes the obverse die and forgets the reverse die. Watch for RMM's too.

The best bet is to put a set together of the best you can find and then you're more likely to notice when some coin doesn't fit the norm. You'll also have a reference collectyioon to compare it to.

Several varieties also appear in mint sets. These are the '68 DDO, '70-D DDR,'89-D DDR, '71-D/D, '69-D/D, and '87 D/D.

The RPM (repunched mint mark) '69-D/D is very dramatic but wasn't discovered until the 1990's so it's a safe bet there are still lots of new varieties to be found in dimes. This one appears in about 5.5% of mint sets and shows up in circulation as well.

Check out the Coneca site.

...and rotated reverses;

(there's only a '65 SMS in dimes though)

I'd also recommend the CherryPickers Guide and the RPM book.

With mioderns though nothing beats looking for yourself.

I found a 1963 DDO.. I am sure it is DDO and not Machine Doubling... any idea what it would be worth?
