I found this while metal detecting near an old colonial home in PA. Can anyone identify it? I think it is silver.

Yes, I posted the back. There is an "F" in the twelve o'clock position and an "M" in the six o'clock position. Plus, I think it is silver.

Since it's already beat up do a ring test on the coin. If it his a nice bright higher pitch to it then it might be silver.

What size is it?

Not claiming I know what this is...........During the coloial times, England was in a metal shortage and sent almost no coins to the American colonies. They also did not allow the colonies to mint their own coins,(there were some minor exceptions), so many minted their own coins from Spanish silver and copper. This may be a locally made dime/10cent piece.

Does the "F" and "M" mean anything locally? Maybe it was a "Farmers and Merchants" Co-op?
Very cool find!
