I like big die cracks on Victoria large cents

Guess-The-Date-On-This-Coin-With-A-Major-Die-Crack.. Many collectors and catalogues dismiss them but I think that's a mistake. You can often associate these with a date. This one in the photo is quite impressive in size. If you've seen it before you'll know the date. Give it a shot.

Both 1881 & 1882 Obv 1's had coins with large bdie breaks through Victoria, but I don't think that I've seen one with one that large.

Yes, this one is a big one and I've only seen it on one date. It comes later in the series. Hmmm...what could it be?

I have well over 4000 Vickies, and don't remember seeing this coin but, at coin show bourses looking through raw coins, I very rarely even look at the Obverse .. unless something on the reverse attracts my attention. I'm kind of a hoarder who looks for higher scarcity Griffin rarities, not necessarily all varieites.

You've got a nice bunch of coins there! I've been enjoying the latest Charlton's Victoria varieties section. I have most of the coins pictured. But I'm still looking for the single serif on N 1881. I'll find it. Anyway, you're the only one responding to this thread. This particular die crack can be found on the 1900H large cent. Enjoy your day!

Try this one. Should be familiar to many. It's a die crack that moves from one part of the legend, across the bust of Victoria and then enters the legend again.

1894

BTW - I could tell the first coin was an obverse 4, but I didn't know the year.

Bosox, that is a gorgeous coin! Victoria in all her magnificence! I'm jealous. A question for you on the 1894. I have 15 here and I still can't be sure of the thick 4 variety. Once they're worn they all look a little thick. What's the secret to identification?
