I came back from the Lakeland show a little confused concerning TPG. The discussion by a group of collectors after show hours turned to coin grading. Pro and Con between NGC,PCGS and ANACS. Other services received little attention. The consensus leaned toward ANACS. Has the new ANACS improved over the years?

I like ANACS. When I have an item that needs certification but the coin has visible problems, then it's great. And as the Coin Show Chairman for the Alamo Coin Club, they are always welecomed.

One thing is for sure, they will not over grade a coin and they are very tough on gold issues. I like them for this reason. A PCGS MS70 Silver Eagle may by ANACS standards be an MS68. I agree with their grading standards because they do not cater to the multi million dollar dealers that PCGS and NGC, so they do not feel obligated to over grade 100 monster boxes of ASE's in order to please a big customer and keep them coming back. Another plus is no membership fees!

ANACS sounds like a buyers grading company which is good for sellers who want correct grades
